NEW DELHI, September 9, 2026 — Stellar Gastronom, a commercial refrigeration equipment manufacturer serving India's foodservice and hospitality industries, has introduced a new line of eco-friendly kitchen refrigeration units built around lower-impact refrigerants.
The new series spans several of the company's existing product families, including its Polar, Prime, Zenith and Supreme chiller and freezer lines, alongside blast chillers and freezers in India designed for high-volume kitchens. The company says the shift addresses both tightening environmental regulation and a growing number of hotel groups with their own internal sustainability targets for new equipment purchases.
Beyond the refrigerant change itself, the new units carry updated insulation and compressor specifications intended to reduce standby energy draw — a detail the company says matters more to total cost of ownership than the sticker price most operators focus on when comparing quotes.
The company says it began evaluating alternative refrigerants several years ago, well ahead of the current wave of regulatory attention, after several export-oriented customers asked for equipment that would meet standards stricter than what Indian regulation currently requires. That early work, it says, meant the new line could move from prototype to full production faster than if development had started only once compliance pressure became widespread domestically.
"Refrigeration runs 24 hours a day whether the kitchen is open or not," a company representative said. "Small efficiency gains compound into a real number on the electricity bill over a few years, and the refrigerant question is becoming a compliance issue as much as a cost one."
The company manufactures the new line at its Tronica City facility and will distribute it through its existing network, which includes regional offices in Mumbai and Bengaluru and warehousing in Mumbai, Gurugram and Chennai.
The company says it is offering the new line at price parity with its standard refrigerant models for an introductory period, aiming to encourage adoption before regulatory deadlines make the switch mandatory rather than optional. It expects the eco-friendly line to become the default option across its catalog over the next several product cycles, with older refrigerant models phased out as component supply chains shift industry-wide.
Stellar Gastronom is headquartered in New Delhi and supplies refrigeration equipment — including display cases, prep tables, cold rooms and ice machines — to restaurants, hotels and institutional kitchens across India.
